Macallan Harmony Collection: Fresh vs Toasted Coconut
The Final Macallan Harmony Collection: Fresh Coconut vs Toasted Coconut
Trending in Whisky
6 min readcreative
The Macallan Harmony Collection has reached its final chapter, and it ends on a tropical note. Launched in August 2026, the sixth and last edition comes as a pair: Macallan Harmony Inspired by Fresh Coconut and Macallan Harmony Inspired by Toasted Coconut.
They share the same idea but taste quite different. And there’s a catch: you’ll only find the Toasted Coconut in airport duty-free shops.
In this guide we walk through every edition of the Macallan Harmony Collection and what each bottle cost, compare the two coconut whiskies side by side, and help you decide which one to pick.
What Is the Macallan Harmony Collection?
The Harmony Collection is a series of limited Macallan single malts, each inspired by a single flavour or ingredient. Every edition comes as a pair of whiskies, and one of each pair has always been a duty-free exclusive, sold only in travel retail shops such as airports. Across six editions, that makes 12 bottles in total.

The coconut edition brings the story full circle. It links back to the Roca family, whose Jordi Roca helped create the very first Harmony whisky. For this launch he created six desserts to pair with the two coconut whiskies at The Macallan Estate.
Every Macallan Harmony Edition, Explained
Here’s a closer look at all six editions of the Macallan Harmony Collection, from the first chocolate pair to the final coconut release.
Edition I: Rich Cacao and Fine Cacao (2021)
The collection began in October 2021 with Rich Cacao, inspired by chocolate. Whisky maker Polly Logan worked with Spanish pastry chef Jordi Roca and master chocolatier Damian Allsop, then chose sherry-seasoned European and American oak casks with chocolate notes. It was bottled at 44% and cost £115 in the UK. Even the box was made from discarded cocoa pod husks. Its duty-free partner, Fine Cacao, followed in May 2022 at US$160.
Edition II: Intense Arabica and Smooth Arabica (2022)
The second edition turned to coffee, inspired by Ethiopian Arabica beans. Intense Arabica (44%) launched at £140 for shops around the world. Smooth Arabica (40%) went on sale in November 2022 as a travel retail exclusive, first on Hainan Island in China and then in airport boutiques worldwide.
Edition III: Amber Meadow and Green Meadow (2023)
For the third edition, The Macallan teamed up with Stella and Mary McCartney. The whiskies draw on the sisters’ memories of the Scottish countryside, and the box and label were made from discarded meadow cuttings. Amber Meadow launched in October 2023 at £160. Green Meadow, the duty-free partner, followed in February 2024.
Edition IV: Vibrant Oak and Guardian Oak (2024)
The fourth edition celebrated the oak cask itself, and both whiskies are 44.2%. Vibrant Oak, matured in first-fill American oak and second-fill sherry-seasoned oak, arrived in shops on 1 November 2024. Guardian Oak, matured mainly in first-fill European oak and second-fill sherry-seasoned oak, was created with Cirque du Soleil and sold only in travel retail.
Edition V: Phoenix Honey Orchid and Organic Cherrywood Lapsang (2025)
Edition V, sometimes called the Jing edition, was made with tea company JING. Phoenix Honey Orchid (43.9%) is inspired by an oolong tea from China’s Phoenix Mountains and launched in August 2025 at £152. Organic Cherrywood Lapsang (44.9%) is inspired by a Lapsang Souchong tea smoked over cherrywood. It was matured in sherry-seasoned European and American oak and sold in duty-free shops at US$190.
Edition VI: Fresh Coconut and Toasted Coconut (2026)
The final edition, launched in August 2026, is inspired by coconut. Fresh Coconut (46.3%) is the lighter, zestier whisky of the pair and the one sold in UK shops, at £140. Toasted Coconut (43.3%) is the richer, sweeter duty-free bottle, at US$185. We compare them in detail below.

Prices for the older editions have moved on since launch. Many of those bottles are now hard to find in shops, so they mostly change hands on the secondary market and at whisky auctions, where the price depends on demand.
The Fresh Coconut is the exception. As the newest Harmony bottle, it’s still easy to buy, and it’s £129.99 at Scotch Whisky World, below its £140 launch price.

Both bottles come in black boxes made from paper that contains recycled coconut fibre. The black colour comes from charcoal made by burning coconut shells and fibres in an emissions-free process.
How Do They Taste?
Macallan Harmony Inspired by Fresh Coconut
Nose: fresh coconut and citrus, with tropical fruit, vanilla, sweet oak and a little spice
Palate: coconut milk and zesty lime, with a soft sweetness
Finish: bright, fresh and floral
Macallan Harmony Inspired by Toasted Coconut
Nose: toasted coconut, crème caramel, white chocolate and vanilla
Palate: coconut truffle, lime marmalade and almond frangipane
Finish: soft, full and sweet, with lingering coconut and American oak
Where does the coconut flavour come from?
American oak casks naturally give whisky notes of coconut and vanilla, thanks to compounds in the wood called oak lactones. So The Macallan didn’t need to add anything. The Fresh Coconut uses bourbon barrels, which are made from American oak, to bring the coconut forward, while the Toasted Coconut leans on the same wood for a richer, toastier style.
Which one should you choose?
Choose the Fresh Coconut if you like lighter, fruity whiskies, or want something fresh and easy to drink. It’s also the one you can buy in ordinary UK whisky shops.
Choose the Toasted Coconut if you have a sweet tooth and like dessert-style whiskies. You’ll need to be flying to find it.
Collectors will want both, since together they complete the final Harmony edition.
Collecting the Full Macallan Harmony Collection
The full Macallan Harmony Collection is 12 bottles: two from each of the six editions. Because one bottle from every edition was sold only in duty-free shops, a complete set is hard to put together. Collectors usually pick up the duty-free bottles while travelling, or find them at whisky auctions, where Harmony bottles and sets often appear.
The Fresh Coconut is the easiest bottle to add to a set. It’s the last Harmony whisky released for ordinary shops, and it’s in stock at Scotch Whisky World now.
As the final Harmony release, it won’t be around for ever. If you collect the series, or just like the sound of a coconut and lime Macallan, now is the time to pick one up.
How to enjoy it
Neat first. Pour a small measure into a tulip-shaped glass and let it sit for a minute so the coconut and citrus can open up.
Add a drop of water. A few drops will soften the 46.3% strength and bring out more of the vanilla and fruit.
Try it with dessert. The whisky was paired with sweet dishes at its launch, so it works well alongside coconut, lime or white chocolate puddings.
FAQs

How much does the Macallan Harmony Collection cost?
Confirmed UK launch prices run from £115 for Rich Cacao in 2021 to £160 for Amber Meadow in 2023. The final bottle, Fresh Coconut, launched at £140 and is £129.99 at Scotch Whisky World. Older bottles now mostly sell on the secondary market, where prices vary.
