Macallan Harmony Inspired by Fresh Coconut: Tasting Notes, Price and Is It Worth It?
Buying Guides

The Macallan Harmony Collection Inspired by Fresh Coconut launched at £140 for a 70cl bottle in August 2026. It is the sixth and final release in the Harmony Collection, a 46.3% single malt made to taste of fresh coconut, lime and tropical fruit.
That is an unusual profile for Macallan, a distillery best known for rich, sherried whisky. Here is what the bottle is, how it tastes, how it differs from its airport-only twin, Toasted Coconut, and whether it is worth £140.
What is the Macallan Harmony Collection?
The Harmony Collection is a limited annual series from The Macallan. Each edition takes one ingredient as its inspiration, from chocolate to coffee to tea, and ships in packaging made partly from that ingredient’s waste.
Every edition comes as a pair. One bottle goes to shops at home, and a twin goes only to airport duty free, known as travel retail. None of the bottles carry an age statement.

What is Harmony Inspired by Fresh Coconut?
It is a single malt Scotch whisky from The Macallan’s Whisky Mastery team, launched worldwide on 4 August 2026.
Strength: 46.3% ABV
Bottle: 70cl, no age statement
Casks: sherry-seasoned American oak and ex-bourbon casks
Where it’s sold: shops, not airports. This is the shop half of the pair.
The casks are what make the coconut. American oak is rich in compounds called oak lactones, which give whisky its coconut and vanilla flavours. Macallan chose sherry-seasoned American oak casks high in those lactones, then balanced them with ex-bourbon casks.
The box is part of the story. It is made from paper containing discarded coconut fibre: waste coconut husk and shell are charred into charcoal, which gives the paper its natural black colour.
Macallan Harmony Fresh Coconut tasting notes
These are The Macallan’s official notes:
Nose: fresh coconut, citrus and tropical fruit, layered with vanilla, sweet oak and gentle spice.
Palate: coconut milk, zesty lime and soft sweetness.
Finish: bright and floral.
Independent tasters broadly agree. The reviewer at WhiskyNotes found the bourbon casks leading, with vanilla cake, desiccated coconut, mango, lime zest and baking spice, and only a shy sherry influence. They called it an uncommon style for Macallan.
In short: this is not the dark, dried-fruit Macallan most people know. It is lighter, sweeter and more tropical, closer to a summer dram than a fireside one.
Fresh Coconut vs Toasted Coconut: what’s the difference?
The two bottles use the same casks but take coconut in two directions: Fresh is bright and zesty, Toasted is richer and more like a dessert.

Is Macallan Harmony Fresh Coconut worth it?
It depends on why you’re buying it.
Worth it if you collect Macallan or the Harmony series. It is the final edition, it is limited, and it is the only one of the coconut pair you can buy in UK shops.
Worth it as a gift. The coconut-fibre box and the story make it a strong present for a Macallan fan.
Less so if you only want the flavour. Creamy, fruity, bourbon-cask single malts exist for much less. WhiskyNotes made the same point. If that is you, see the bottles below.
How to drink it
Neat, in a tulip-shaped glass, to get the coconut and lime on the nose.
With a few drops of water, which opens up the vanilla and tropical fruit.
In a highball with chilled soda water and a twist of lime, which suits its citrus side. Macallan also created six coconut cocktail serves for the launch.

The Macallan Harmony Collection has reached its final chapter, and it ends on a tropical note. Launched in August 2026, the sixth and last edition comes as a pair: Macallan Harmony Inspired by Fresh Coconut and Macallan Harmony Inspired by Toasted Coconut. They share the same idea but taste quite different. And there’s a catch:…
