Special release of Yamazaki 12 year old for the distillery and House of Suntory’s 100th anniversary. Thought of as the birthplace of Japanese Whisky, it was opened in 1923 by Suntory’s founder Shinjiro Torii. The label of this bottling includes a picture of the distillery’s incredible location.

Nose – Peach, pineapple, grapefruit, clove candied orange, vanilla, Mizunara (Japanese oak)
Palate – Coconut, cranberry, butter
Finish – Sweet ginger, cinnamon, long finish
Waterford proudly utilises 100% demonstrably Irish-grown barley from one farm, one terroir for each release. Hook Head 1.1 is the first edition made using barley grown at the ‘Hook Head Farm’. The farm is subject to the full extent of salt-laden sea spray & ocean breezes, creating a extremely maritime terroir. Bottled at 50% ABV without colouring, chill-filtration.

The Waterford Distillery’s Single Farm Origin series grows once again with the 1.1 expression of single malt Irish whisky made with barley from Lakefield Farm in Co. Laois. The range explores the terroir of barley, and how it can impact the flavour of a whisky, which is a big undertaking, and it has produced some fascinating expressions.
